ABSTRACT
The writer of this thesis chooses a novel entitled The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by Stephen King as the subject of her writing. Stephen King is considered as one of the great novelists in the world. He is the author of more than fifty books and all of them are worldwide best seller. This research is intended to analyze the character and characterization of the main character, the forms of the adventure of the main character in the wilderness, and the moral values of the novel The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon.
The type of this study is a library research which consists of primary data and secondary data. The primary data of this research is taken from the novel The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, while the secondary data are taken from other sources like books, journals, articles, related to the topic. The subject of this research is the novel The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, while the object of this research is in the character and characterization of the main character, the forms of the adventure the main character in the wilderness and the moral values of the novel. In analyzing the data, the writer does an in-depth text analysis and describes them with descriptive qualitative method under objective approach by Abram and Subhan.
The result of the research can be described as follows. The character and characterization of the main character in novel The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon is charitable, sporty, music lover, peaceable, imaginative, smart, tearful, persistent, coward, mature and innovative. The forms of the adventure of the main character in novel The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon are the adventure in real world and the adventure in unreal world. The moral values in the novel The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon are divided into two: positive and negative. The positive values are believing in God and remembering to God. The negative values are divorce, not diligent in devout and no belief in God.
