ABSTRACT
This thesis entitled ‘A Study of Exclamation used in Harry Potter Movie ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’ aims to find out the types and functions of exclamatory sentences in Harry Potter Movie ‘Harry potter and the Goblet of Fire’.
This research uses descriptive qualitative method because the researcher does not use any statistical procedure in analyzing the data. The researcher takes the sentences that are said by the characters in the movie as data source of this research. Noting technique is applied in this research. She identifies and classifies the types and functions of exclamatory sentences used in Harry Potter Movie ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’.
The result shows that the types of exclamatory sentence found are vocative, greeting, shouting, title, simple language, and proverb and the functions of exclamatory sentence are to express some emotional strong states such as outcry, yelling, cheering, amazement, happiness, anger, and anxiety.
