ABSTRACT
This thesis entitled ‘A Study of Imperative Sentences Used in Sam Raimi’s Spiderman (Movie Version) aims to find out the types, functions and sentence structures of imperative sentences in Spiderman movie directed by Sam Raimi.
This study uses descriptive qualitative method since the writer does not use any statistical procedure in analyzing the data. The writer takes the sentences said by the characters in the movie as data source of this study. Noting technique is applied in this research. She identifies and classifies the types, functions and sentence structures of imperative sentences used in Spiderman movie.
The result of this study shows that there are some types, functions, and sentences structures of imperative sentences used in the movie. The types of the imperative sentences are imperative with subject, imperative without subject, imperative with let, and negative imperative. The functions of the imperative sentences are to express command, to express request, to express prohibition, to give advice, and to give suggestion. The sentence structures of imperative sentences are don’t + bare infinitive + object + adverb, bare infinitive + object + adverb, and no + Ving
