ABSTRACT
The title of this thesis is The Efforts of the Main Character for The Survival as Reflected in Danielle Steel’s Palomino: A Psychological Analysis. The objectives of this analysis is to find out the characterizations of the main character and woman’s efforts for the survival describing by Samantha Taylor, are observed psychologically and the moral lesson.
In this research, the writer uses the psychological approach to analyze the characterizations of the protagonist character, Samantha Taylor in Palomino. The subject of this research is the novel Palomino by Danielle Steel. The object of the research is the characterizations of the main character, Samantha Taylor in Palomino. The writer uses observation and documentation as the methodologies of the research. The observation means reading the novel carefully and critically. The result of observation is as documentation, especially the document of the main character, Samantha Taylor in Palomino. The technique of collecting the data is qualitative method.
Some of the research findings are as follows; first, the main characters of the novel Palomino by Danielle Steel is Samantha Taylor. The characterizations of the main character, Samantha Taylor, are pressured, busy, humble, beautiful, stubborn, energetic, talented, lonely, and also steadfast. She has flat character. Second, she does efforts for her survival. She leaves New York and goes to California, gets her love in ranch, turns Ranch Lord into special ranch for handicapped kids and adopts Timmie as her child. Finally she lives happily.
