THE INDONESIANIZATION OF ENGLISH VERBS IN INDONESIAN PRINTED MEDIA

ABSTRACT


The research entitled ‘The Indonesianization of English verb in Indonesian Printed Media’ is intended to find out the forms of the Indonesianization of English verbs in Kompas newspaper and the kinds of the Indonesianization of English verbs mostly used in Kompas newspaper.

This type of research belongs to qualitative research. It does not use any statistical procedure. The writer takes the sentences that contain the verbs from English in Kompas newspaper. The process of data analysis includes identifying, categorizing and drawing conclusions.

The result of the research shows that the forms of the Indonesianization of English verb are in original form and with certain adjustments. The kinds of Indonesianization of English verbs are: based on the object of a sentence and based on the relationship between the verb and the object. Based on the object of a sentence, it consists of transitive verb and intransitive verb. Transitive verb can be divided into two kinds, they are: monotransitive verb and bitransitive verb. Based on the relationship between the verb and the object, it consist of active verb and passive verb. Based on the research, the Indonesianization of English verbs in Kompas newspaper frequently used is Indonesianization of English verb in the form of active verb.
