THE IMPACTS OF VIOLENCE TOWARD HILARY’S LIFE AS REFLECTED IN DANIELLE STEEL’S KALEIDOSCOPE: A FEMINIST STUDY

ABSTRACT

The title of this thesis is “The Impacts of Violence Toward Hilary’s Life In Danielle Steel’s Kaleidoscope”. This study is a literary study of a novel entitled Kaleidoscope written by Danielle Steel. The main purpose of this thesis is to find out characterization of the main character, the Hilary’s experience violence, the impacts of violence against Hilary’s life, and the Liberal Feminism as Reflected in Danielle Steel’s Kaleidoscope.

The method of the study is based on the library research. The main data is Kaleidoscope novel. The source of the data is primary source and secondary source. The researcher takes the materials which are relevant to the analysis. After the data are collected they are analyzed by using liberal feminism and it will be describe with descriptive qualitative method.

Some of the important resarch findings are stated as follow: the characterizations of the main character; they are: responsible, egoistic, inclusive, and optimistic. The Hilary’s experience violence; they are: physical violence, psycological violence, sexual violence, and economic violence. The impacts of violence against Hilary’s life such as no marriage, inclusive, no friends, and terrified.
