THE NAUGTINESS OF THE MAIN CHARACTER AS REFLECTED IN MARK TWAIN’S THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER; A PSYCHOLOGICAL ANALYSIS

ABSTRACT

The title of this thesis is The Naughtiness of The Main Character as Reflected in Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Tom Sawyer; A Psychological Analysis. The researcher discusses the psychology of the main character as reflected in the novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer using Psychological approach, the delinquency of the main character.

The method of the study is used on the library research in which the data are taken from books, magazine, and electronic device especially Internet. The data are classified into main and supporting data. The main data are taken from novel itself and supporting data are taken from the sources which are related to and support the subject matter of the study.

After having analyzed the novel, the writer discovers that Mark Twain characterization as reflected Tom Sawyer as the main character are stealing, lazy, smoker, honest, dreamer, care, kind, liar, adventurer, foolish, loyal, jealous, and secret keeper. Besides that, the main character also has some delinquency; telling a lie, stealing, smoking, cunning, and committing violence.
